About Dr. Anderson
Dr. Anderson is an Associate Teaching Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Syracuse University and holds multiple leadership roles that advance engineering education, applied research, and workforce development. She serves as Director of the Syracuse University Industrial Training and Assessment Center (SU-ITAC), where she leads teams of undergraduate and graduate students in conducting energy efficiency and sustainability assessments for regional small- and medium-sized manufacturers. Through her work at SU-ITAC, she has helped more than 80 manufacturers reduce energy use and operating costs, and has mentored more than 30 students—supporting and training the next generation of energy engineers.
Leadership in Energy & Building Assessment
Dr. Anderson is also Co-Director of the Syracuse University Building Training and Assessment Center (SU-BTAC), supporting student training in building science principles and guiding commercial energy assessment activities. In addition, she serves as Director of the Engineering Management Master’s Program, overseeing curriculum development, student recruitment, and program growth.
STEM Outreach & Partnerships
Beyond her university roles, Dr. Anderson collaborates with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to expand STEM education opportunities for high school and community college students, promoting hands-on learning and pathways into clean energy careers.
Industry Experience & Innovation
Before joining academia, Dr. Anderson spent seven years in the HVAC industry in managerial and technical roles, earning five patents related to HVAC technologies. Across all her positions, she is committed to student mentorship, experiential learning, and partnerships that strengthen both industry practice and engineering education.
